Born in Kingston, Jamaica, on D-Day, this piano child prodigy also sang. His lucky star showed up before he was twenty years old, when Frank Sinatra produced him in that temple of fifties and sixties pop music, Jilly's Bar in New York. When bassist Ray Brown invited Monty to sit in with his trio, he was ready to go. Monty's swing & lyricism has inspired such jazz giants as Milt Jackson, Clark Terry, Dizzy Gillespie and a whole pantheon of stars. These days, he revisits influences Randy Weston and Bob Marley for an irresistible return to his Jamaican roots.
Monty Alexander - piano; Hassan W. Shakour - bass; Bobby Thomas, Jr. - drums
