Nicole Mitchell brings an exciting new approach to flute improvisation.
Co-president of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM),
she is the founder of the critically acclaimed Black Earth Ensemble. Mitchell,
Downbeat magazine's "#1 Rising Star Flutist 2006 and 2007," has performed with
Anthony Braxton, James Newton & Muhal Richard Abrams. Awarded "Chicagoan of the
Year 2006" by the Chicago Tribune, Mitchell does residencies, workshops & panel
discussions in Europe, Canada & the United States.
