Namtchylak is an exceptional singer from the desert of Tuva, a small country lying on the border of Mongolia and Siberia. She has created a style combining the traditions of her nomadic past, folklore, guttural singing, and shamanism with influences from the current world of drum 'n' bass, hip-hop, and contemporary jazz. Included are acclaimed American musicians William Parker and Hamid Drake. Shot on location at a performance at the Banlieues Blues Festival near Paris, this film is part of La Huit's Freedom Now collection.
